Transfer News: Tottenham line up move for Stefan De Vrij
According to transfer news from Express, Tottenham are planning a raid on Inter Milan for Stefan de Vrij. With Antonio Conte set to take the job at Spurs, he could look to his old club for defensive reinforcements.
A youth product of Feyenoord’s academy, De Vrij started out for VV Spirit in 1997. The 28-year-old Dutch centre-back spent time between 2002 and 2008 at Feyenoord’s academy before being promoted to the U-19 side. Within one season, he was bumped up to the senior side. Spending 5 years there, he went on to feature more than 150 times for Feyenoord.
Ahead of the 2018 season, De Vrij made the switch to Inter Milan on a free transfer. Since then, he has made over 100 appearances for the Nerazzurri. He is also fairly experienced for the Netherlands, with 44 caps and 3 goals to date.
Despite their recent Serie A win, Inter are entwined in financial problems. Antonio Conte left due to those problems and is very close to signing for Spurs. It has now been reported that the Italian could raid his former side for Stefan de Vrij. The Dutchman was a rock at the back for Inter in their title-winning campaign.
