Tottenham News: Jose Mourinho takes fresh swipe at Gareth Bale

According to news from Daily Star, former Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho took some new potshots at Gareth Bale. The Welsh star, who has been on loan at Spurs, has been accused of dropping poor performances by his former boss.

Mourinho was sacked by Tottenham Hotspur in April following a rough seventeen-month spell in North London. There were some positives during his time. But the manner in which the club crashed out of the Europa League and the decline in form in the Premier League since December meant that the Portuguese was shown the doors.

As Mourinho sets in on his new job at Roma, he has dished out some retort at Gareth Bale.

“Over the years Wales have relied a lot on Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey, the two most talented players in the country. When we look to Gareth and how many great performances he had, how many goals he scored against the best teams, there were not many or none. It’s not an easy situation for a country without many options.”

Bale returned to the north London club last summer on a season-long loan. While he struggled initially, the 31-year-old ended the campaign on a strong note, finishing with a more than a handy tally of 16 goals in all competitions.

It’s not entirely new to see Mourinho go after former players. The manager has often taken shots at players who haven’t performed well under his management. Nonetheless, Mourinho has long been gone from Spurs and Bale’s loan spell is done and dusted as well.
