Blow for Tottenham as Mauricio Pochettino not leaving PSG
According to reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Mauricio Pochettino. The former Spurs manager is unlikely to leave PSG and the club are of the same opinion as well.
Antonio Conte appeared to be closing in on the Spurs hot seat and was just a day ago close to penning the deal. Talks have since broken down and Tottenham will now need to look elsewhere for their man. The breakdown occurred after Spurs grew concerned over Conte’s demands and his commitment to blooding young players.
Perhaps the new development does not come as a surprise given Conte’s track record. The Italian parted ways just weeks after leading Inter to the Scudetto owing to the Italians’ lack of support in the upcoming summer transfer market. Daniel Levy is notorious for not loosening his purse strings and it would have been the same for Conte in North London.
While Spurs still had some hopes on one of their former employees, Pochettino, could come back and take over the reins of the club again, it turns out they have been dealt a bad hand there as well.
Fabrizio Romano has now claimed that Pochettino will not leave PSG and the Paris club are also not keen on letting him go. In fact, the journalist has also claimed that the 49-year-old Argentine is planning for next season with the French giants and has been in talks to help them sign Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum.

…and that’s it: Pochettino has been directly involved in Wijnaldum’ turnaround to join PSG.
Poch called Gini several times, they met in 2016 as Poch wanted him at Spurs. Now, together in Paris 🇫🇷

Jose Mourinho has been gone for well over a month now. It has been over two weeks since the season ended. While it is understandable that the club is keen on getting it right, hopping from one candidate to another candidate does not look great. With Conte now not an option and Pochettino also set to stay put, hopefully, a candidate is narrowed down upon at the earliest and an appointment is made.
