Tottenham Hotspur Stadium chosen as the venue for Anthony Joshua vs Oleksandr Usyk
According to Sky Sports, the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has been chosen as the preferred venue to host the boxing title defence of Anthony Joshua against Oleksandr Usyk.
Anthony Joshua, who is the WBA, IBF and WBO champion, has been in talks over the defence of his title against the WBO mandatory challenger in Usyk, with the fight expected to be scheduled sometime in September.
And, as per the report, the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has been chosen as the desired venue.
Fans would remember that Joshua was supposed to fight a match at Spurs’ stadium in June last year against Kubrat Pulev. However, due to the pandemic, the fight had to be moved to December, with the Wembley Stadium being chosen to host the event. But AJ could soon be setting foot at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with his fight against Usyk set to be confirmed.
Usyk’s promoter, Alexander Krassyuk, had revealed last week that he was working on finalising the huge bout and it seems like progress has been made on that front now.
“We are waiting for King AJ’s decision whether he is brave enough to get dethroned.”
Anthony Joshua's planned world heavyweight title fight against Oleksandr Usyk is set to be staged at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Sky Sports News understands.
