Transfer News: Manchester City urged to overlook Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane for alternative
Speaking on BBC Match of the Day’s Top 10 (h/t football.london), Manchester City ambassador, Micah Richards, tipped potential suitors to sign Erling Haaland instead of Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane.
The English striker is undoubtedly Spurs’ main man. No matter who takes over the managerial helm, Kane’s presence in the team would be vital for any sort of rebuild.
That is why Daniel Levy would not let Kane leave that easy. The 27-year-old has hinted that he could leave the club if he cannot achieve his ambitions.
And a report from the Mirror (h/t Football.london) mentions that Manchester United, Chelsea and Man City have all made ‘contact’ with Kane over a potential transfer. However, Kane is not the only striker in demand.
Haaland instead of Harry Kane?
City have also been heavily linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund hitman, Erling Haaland. And Richards believes that teams may not be willing to dish out a large sum for Kane.
“He [Daniel Levy] is going to want £150m-plus realistically – I’m not spending that on Harry Kane. Not a chance.
The former Premier League defender cites Haaland as a better investment, as he showered the 20-year-old Norwegian with praise.
“He is a beast You know when you play against a striker and sometimes you just want them messing around and looking fancy? He’s just not bothered, ‘Get me in the box and I’ll score’… He could be anything, he is sensational.”

This would be music to the ears of Spurs fans who could not care less if any pundit undermines Kane in favour of another striker. The main goal for them is, of course, to make sure Kane stays.
