Transfer News: Raheem Sterling stance known amid Tottenham Hotspur link

According to a report by Football Insider (h/t Yorkshire Evening Post), Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling, has no interest in a move to Tottenham Hotspur during this transfer window.

Sterling was linked with a move to Spurs as a makeweight in a deal for Harry Kane. But it now seems that the Englishman has no interest in coming over to N17.

The Premier League champions have set an £80million price tag for him. Sterling was influential this season for the Cityzens with 14 goals and 12 assists despite being benched in crucial European games due to the rise of Phil Foden.

Sterling can play either wing but Spurs already have the potent Son Heung-min playing down the left-hand side. So, Sterling could have played down the right-hand side if he were to sign.

No, thank you, Raheem

Gareth Bale, who majorly played down the right-wing this season, was loaned from Real Madrid last summer but his future remains up in the air.

Nevertheless, Spurs fans would probably see the positive in this news. Since Sterling was touted as a makeweight in a deal for Harry Kane, his unwillingness to come to the Lilywhites could help Spurs keep hold of their star striker.

The 27-year-old, who won the playmaker and Golden Boot award in the league this season, is undoubtedly the main man at Tottenham. Whoever becomes the next Spurs boss would love to have Kane in the team.

But it seems that the anxiety surrounding Kane’s future at Spurs can only be overcome once the transfer window shuts. And regardless of Sterling’s stance, Daniel Levy already believed to have stated that he only wants cash for Kane instead of players.

So as long as Levy plays hardball like this, the chances of having Kane at Spurs next season would be good.
