Ryan Mason and Ledley King set for new roles at Tottenham under Paulo Fonseca

According to Duncan Castles on the Transfer Window Podcast (h/t Express), Ryan Mason and Ledley King are set for new roles at Tottenham Hotspur under incoming boss Paulo Fonseca.

The 48-year-old is set to become the new manager of Tottenham after agreeing a two-year contract with the club. However, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Fonseca will not be bringing along his previous set of assistants and coaching staff to the north London outfit.

Instead, the former AS Roma boss is set for a fresh staff altogether at Tottenham, with Ryan Mason and Ledley King likely to be handed roles within the setup. (h/t Express)

Ledley King returned to Tottenham in a coaching capacity under Jose Mourinho and was heavily involved with the team last season. As for Mason, the former midfielder was working as a coach with the youth setup before he was handed the role of the interim first-team manager following the sacking of Jose Mourinho in April.

While Mason may have failed to guide Tottenham to a top-four or even a top-six finish, the 29-year-old did bring some amount of positivity around the club after the sour taste left behind by Mourinho. And, the ex-Spurs star could now be set for a new role in the backroom staff, acting as the No. 2 to Fonseca. (h/t Express)

As for King, he too will be one of Fonseca’s assistant at Tottenham once the Portuguese arrives. The 48-year-old will certainly be boosted by having respected figures like King and Mason around him as he embarks on what will be a difficult challenge.
