Tottenham Hotspur set to pocket £5m from Marcus Edwards transfer
According to Football.london, Tottenham Hotspur are set to benefit from former youngster Marcus Edwards transfer from Vitoria Guimaraes to Sporting CP this summer.
A product of the Tottenham Hotspur youth academy, Edwards was tipped for a bright future at the club by former manager Mauricio Pochettino.
However, things didn’t quite work out for the attacker in London and after a few loan spells at Norwich City and Excelsior, he left for Vitoria Guimaraes in the summer of 2019.
Since moving to the Portuguese outfit, Edwards has been able to turn things around in his career. Till date, he has managed 72 appearances for Vitoria Guimaraes, scoring 12 goals and setting up 12 more. (h/t Transfermarkt)
And, it seems like the 22-year-old could be set for the next big step in his career, as Edwards is understood to be set to complete a transfer from Vitoria Guimaraes to Portuguese champions Sporting CP.
The deal is said to be worth £10m and, Tottenham will now be landing half of that transfer fee, i.e., £5m. This is because the club had inserted a 50% sell-on clause in the agreement when they had sold Edwards to Vitoria Guimaraes. (h/t Football.london)

Edwards managed to make just one appearance for Tottenham during his time at the club. However, the youngster, two years after leaving the club, has benefited the north Londoners off the field. Given the financial situation due to the pandemic, every penny matters.
And Tottenham are now set for a £5m windfall for a deal that was done two years ago. Well done Daniel Levy.
