Transfer News: Tottenham, Arsenal keeping tabs on Ivan Perisic
According to transfer news from Football.london, Tottenham Hotspur are ‘looking at’ the situation of Inter Milan’s Croatian winger Ivan Perisic, along with arch-rivals Arsenal.
Perisic spent the 2019/20 season on loan at Bayern Munich, winning the Bundesliga and the UEFA Champions League. The Croatian international returned to parent club Inter Milan in the last summer but failed to establish himself as a regular under Antonio Conte.
The 32-year-old did feature 42 times in all competitions for the Nerazzurri scoring and assisting five goals apiece. However, only 20 of those appearances were starts in Serie A which Inter Milan won. (h/t Transfrmarkt)
Perisic, though, is entering the final year of his contract with the Italian champions, who could be open to the possibility of cashing in on him this summer rather than losing him for nothing a year down the line.
And, it seems like this situation has piqued the interest of both Tottenham Hotspur as well as Arsenal. In addition, Manchester United are said to be keeping an eye on the 32-year-old winger’s situation as well. (h/t Football.london)
Tottenham do need to add wide players to the squad this summer as Gareth Bale’s loan deal has ran out following which he is returning to Real Madrid. In addition, the likes of Steven Bergwijn, Erik Lamela and Lucas Moura weren’t nearly consistent enough, which left a lot of burden on the star attacking duo of Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.

And while Perisic might not be a big-name signing that some fans crave, the 32-year-old can be a useful addition to the squad. The Croatian is vastly experienced, has title-winning experience and 32, still has plenty left in his tank to offer. Should he be available for a cut-price fee, a move wouldn’t be the worst idea for the Lilywhites.
