Transfer News: Tottenham have kept their interest in Merih Demiral
According to transfer news from Football.london, Tottenham have kept some level of interest in Merih Demiral. Alasdair Gold says that Spurs have had an interest in the Juventus man and now it will stay due to Fabio Paratici’s history.
The 23-year-old started out at Turkish giants Fenerbahce and had stints at Sporting Lisbon, Alanyaspor and Sassuolo before joining Juventus last summer. However, the Turkish international endured a difficult debut season in Turin, owing to a cruciate ligament knee injury.
Having been restricted to just eight appearances in 2019/20, Demiral has once again been blighted by injury problems. And, as a result, he finds himself behind the likes of Leonardo Bonucci, Giorgio Chiellini and Matthijs de Ligt in the pecking order.
Despite an underwhelming start to the Euros with his own goal against Italy, Spurs’ interest in the player is still there. Alasdair Gold of Football.london spoke about the same.
“Spurs have certainly looked at Demiral before and obviously the Juventus links are there now with Paratici, while Berardi is a top player. The new managing director will come in with his own targets that he likes and he will discuss the club’s previous targets with Steve Hitchen and the analysts.
The Premier League and its demands will be new to him but Paratici also has a wealth of contacts to make things happen. Together they must all decide who can fit a very different league in England.”

Given the form and fitness record of Demiral, it would be a huge gamble to go after the Turkish defender. He does have age on his side, which should give him time to refocus. It is quite hard to say if Spurs would act on their interest in the Juve man.
