Steven Gerrard emerges as a strong contender for the Tottenham job according to bookmakers

According to Glasgow Times, Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has been tipped as one of the strong contenders to become the next Tottenham Hotspur boss by bookmakers Bet Victor.

Tottenham Hotspur are on the lookout for a new manager following the sacking of Jose Mourinho in April earlier this year. The Portuguese was axed after 19 months at the club, with the club yet to appoint a full-time replacement.

Several names have been linked with the vacant managerial spot at the north London outfit and bookmakers BetVictor are now claiming that Gerrard is one of the strongest contenders to become the next Tottenham head coach. (h/t Glasgow Times)

Indeed, the 41-year-old Liverpool legend is now the second favourite to be Tottenham’s next manager at odds of 10/3, marginally behind current favourite Graham Potter at 11/4. The report further elaborates on how Gerrard’s odds have been falling recently, following Tottenham’s attempts and subsequent breakdown of talks with the likes of Antonio Conte and Paulo Fonseca. Since taking over the reins at Rangers in 2018, former Liverpool captain, Gerrard has done a fine job and even managed to lead the Light Blues to their first Scottish Premiership title in eleven years this term.

The Gers beat arch-rivals Celtic comprehensively while playing some fine attacking brand of football. This had led to Gerrard being linked with the Spurs job just before Mourinho was sacked. (h/t Express)

More Tottenham Hotspur News:

The bookmakers put Nuno Espirito Santo, who is said to be a frontrunner for the job by the Daily Mail, as the third favourite at 4/1.

It remains to be seen which way Tottenham decide to go. Gerrard may not be the most experienced manager around, but considering what he has done at a short time at Rangers, he could certainly be an interesting choice.
