Real Madrid president Florentino Perez coy on Gareth Bale future amid Tottenham links

Speaking in a recent interview (via Le 10 Sport h/t Football.london), Real Madrid president Florentino Perez was coy on the matter of the future of Tottenham target Gareth Bale.

Having left Tottenham for Real Madrid back in 2013, Bale returned to north London last summer, signing on a season-long loan deal. The Welshman endured a difficult start to life back at Tottenham with fitness issues holding him back. However, as the campaign progressed, the 31-year-old found his groove and finished with a tally of 16 goals in all competitions.

But with his loan deal expiring at the end of the month, there has been a lack of clarity around his situation as Tottenham continue to be linked with him. Perez, who has overseen another managerial change at Real Madrid this summer, with Carlo Ancelotti replacing Zinedine Zidane, spoke highly of Bale when asked about his future. However, he did not give much away, remaining coy in his reply. (h/t h/t Football.london)

“Gareth Bale? He’s a great player. He won us big finals. In my opinion, he is one of the big players in Europe. Everyone is as they are, they have their own personality. What I remember is that in Kiev, he scored with an overhead kick. His head in Lisbon. The run against FC Barcelona in the Copa del Rey.

“If I would like him to stay? I love everyone. We have 35 players and can only register 25… Ceballos, Kubo, Odegaard, we can’t fit them all.”
