Tottenham have ‘number of issues’ to overcome to appoint Nuno Espirito Santo as manager
According to The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur still have some major hurdles to cross before they are able to appoint Nuno Espirito Santo as their next manager.
Having been without a manager for over two months after the sacking of Jose Mourinho, Tottenham seem be to closing in on Nuno as the replacement for the former Real Madrid and Chelsea boss.
However, things may not be as straightforward as they seem, with the aforementioned report claiming that there still remain ‘a number of issues’ that Tottenham and Nuno need to resolve before reaching an agreement.
Nuno has been without a job since the end of the season when he stepped down from the managerial role at Wolverhampton Wanderers. While he did some fine work during his time at the Molineux, the 47-year-old does not exactly fall in line with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy’s vision of appointing someone who can play an attractive, attacking brand of football.
Another issue that seems to be cropping up is that Nuno, while keen on taking the job, wants a major say in the club’s transfer dealings. That might not be forthcoming as Tottenham only recently appointed Fabio Paratici as the club’s managing director of football, to oversee the transfer side of things.
So, the Portuguese becoming the next manager is not a foregone conclusion, a club source has told The Sun.
“There are still a number of issues.”
