Chelsea legend Frank Lampard tipped for Tottenham manager job by Trevor Sinclair
Speaking to talkSPORT (h/t Metro), former Premier League striker Trevor Sinclair has claimed that Chelsea legend Frank Lampard would be a good fit to become the next Tottenham Hotspur manager.
Tottenham have been on the lookout for a new permanent manager for two months now following the sacking of Jose Mourinho in April. Julian Nagelsmann was targeted first only for him to be snapped up by Bayern Munich. A return for ex-boss Mauricio Pochettino was mooted but he looks set to stay put at PSG.
Talks were held with Antonio Conte as well, only for them to break down towards the final phases while both Paulo Fonseca and Gennaro Gattuso were rejected after it initially appeared that they would be handed the job. (h/t Metro)
Former Wolves’ manager Nuno Espirito Santo has now emerged as the leading candidate to take over as the next full-time manager at Tottenham. Sinclair, though, has claimed that Lampard would have been a good fit for the club. (h/t Metro)
“One that I do not think has been mentioned enough, he has got connections to the football club, not so much for himself but through his family is Frank Lampard. Because obviously, Harry [Redknapp] has been manager there, Jamie [Redknapp] has played at the football club and he is a London lad.
“Listen he did not do that much wrong at Chelsea with Jody Morris [ex-Chelsea assistant manager] behind him. It is a huge club and for me, the managers they have been talking about are not good enough.”

Lampard has been without a job since January this year after he was sacked by Chelsea as the manager. Prior to his sacking, the former England midfielder had done a fairly decent job at the club, having taken them to a cup final in his debut season while clinching a top-four finish.
Until the decline of results late in his tenure, the 43-year-old had managed to guide the side fairly well, showing a penchant for attacking football while also giving youth plenty of chances as well. Given his history with Chelsea, though, a move to Tottenham is a far-fetched thought.
