Tottenham joined by Fenerbahce in Nuno Espirito Santo pursuit
According to Radyo Gol in Turkey (h/t The Sun), Tottenham Hotspur have been joined by Fenerbahce in the race to appoint Nuno Espirito Santo as their next manager.
It has been 70 days since Tottenham sacked Jose Mourinho as the manager of the club, back in April, following a disappointing run of results. However, the club has found it hard to name a permanent replacement for the Portuguese tactician, with the search for one still ongoing.
Antonio Conte, Paulo Fonseca, Gennaro Gattuso are among the names that were considered only for talks to break down for one reason or another. Following all of this, Nuno Espirito Santo has emerged as the contender for the vacant hot-seat at Tottenham. (h/t The Sun)
Nuno has been without a job since the end of the season when he quit the managerial post at Wolverhampton Wanderers – a job that he had held for four years and done a solid job. However, the 2020/21 campaign was a bit of a downer for the Midlands’ club as they ended the season outside the top ten.
The 47-year-old had held talks to take over as the manager of Tottenham’s London rivals, Crystal Palace, but decided to snub a move. While Tottenham remain hopeful of landing Nuno, they will now be facing competition from Fenerbahce, who want the Portuguese at the helm after they finished third last season. The Turkish giants believe that he would be the right man to take them back to the top. (h/t The Sun)

It remains to be seen if Tottenham do press ahead with their pursuit of Nuno, especially given the negative reaction his links have drawn from some section of the supporters. With Fenerbahce now entering the fray, things may yet get complicated for Daniel Levy & co.
