Fabio Paratici’s role in convincing Levy to appoint Nuno Espirito Santo as Tottenham boss revealed
According to Football.london’s Alasdair Gold, Tottenham director Fabio Paratici played a key role in convincing chairman Daniel Levy to name Nuno Espirito Santo as the manager.
Tottenham’s long-drawn-out pursuit of a new manager is finally set to come to an end with The Telegraph reporting earlier on Wednesday that Nuno was locked in for the job, with the club officials closing the interview process.
This has been followed up by an update by Fabrizio Romano, who claims that Tottenham are now hashing out the contract details to appoint the Portuguese tactician as the next manager, with Fabio Paratici being the driving force behind the deal.
The Italian, who was named the club’s Managing Director, Football earlier this month, has been the key behind the deal, adds Alasdair Gold, claiming that it was Paratici who convinced Daniel Levy to go ahead with Nuno.
As per the report, the Tottenham Hotspur chairman had some apprehensions with regard to the way Nuno sets his teams up, having seen Wolves largely set up with a defensive outlook and play on the break. That is what the chairman had set out for when he issued a brief on what he was looking for in the new manager.
However, Paratici was able to sway Levy over by showing the chairman video clippings of Nuno’s team at Valencia, who played an attacking brand of football, setting up in a 4-4-2 or a 4-3-3 formation more often than not. (h/t Football.london)
