Tottenham in talks with the agents of Jules Kounde: Fabrizio Romano
Speaking on the latest edition of the Here We Go podcast, transfer expert and journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are in contact with the agents of Jules Kounde, who is also wanted by Manchester United.
Kounde came through the ranks at French club Bordeaux but it was only after he made the switch to Sevilla in 2019 that he exploded into a rising superstar of the game. The 22-year-old was one of the Spanish outfit’s best players as they went on to win the 2019/20 UEFA Europa League.
Kounde followed it up with yet another solid season in 2020/21, establishing himself as one of the best central defenders on display in La Liga. And, Romano had claimed last week that Tottenham admire the 22-year-old France international, as the club eyes defensive reinforcements this summer.
Now the Italian journalist has gone a step further and added that Spurs have already made contact with the representatives of Kounde, who is on the list of Manchester United as well. Romano adds that Tottenham will see some movement in the defensive department in the coming days.
“Kounde could be an opportunity. Also for Manchester United are in the list. Tottenham are considering a move, they are in contact with his agents. For sure Tottenham will do something in defence, right-back and centre-back. In the next weeks.”
Tottenham are in serious need of defensive reinforcements as Toby Alderweireld is not getting any younger while Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez haven’t been performing at the desired level.

Someone like Kounde, who at 22, has established himself as one of the most coveted young defenders in Europe, would be an excellent addition for Tottenham. And, it bodes well that the club have already opened a line of communication with the Frenchman’s agents. However, his €80m release clause could prove to be a stumbling block.
