Tottenham Hotspur appoint Nuno Espirito Santo as the new manager

As confirmed by the club’s official website, Tottenham Hotspur have appointed Nuno Espirito Santo as the new manager, with the 47-year-old replacing compatriot Jose Mourinho.

Tottenham had been without a manager since late April when Mourinho was sacked. Ryan Mason saw the season through as Daniel Levy & co. searched for a permanent replacement for the Portuguese.

And after a two-month period filled with ups and downs, Tottenham have finally announced that it will Nuno, who will take over the reins at the club. The 47-year-old was available after he quit the managerial position at Wolves at the end of the 2020/21 campaign. Upon being named the new Spurs’ boss, the Portuguese tactician said:

“When you have a squad with quality and talent, we want to make the fans proud and enjoy. It’s an enormous pleasure and honour (to be here), there’s joy and I’m happy and looking forward to starting work. We don’t have any days to lose and we must start working immediately as pre-season starts in a few days.”

Chairman Daniel Levy welcomed the new manager, stating that he and director Fabio Paratici believe that Nuno is the right man for the job.

“I’ve spoken already about the need to revert back to our core DNA of playing attacking, entertaining football and Fabio and I believe Nuno is the man who can take our talented group of players, embrace our young players coming through and build something special.”

There had been negative reactions among fans prior to the appointment. However, upon the announcement, a large section of them expressed their support to Nuno. Here are some of the reactions from the Spurs’ supporters after this huge development.
