Transfer News: Fabio Paratici urges Tottenham Hotspur to join Arsenal in Manuel Locatelli race
According to a report by the Daily Star, Tottenham Hotspur are considering entering the race for Arsenal and Juventus transfer target, Manuel Locatelli.
Fabio Paratici, according to the report, is a fan of Locatelli. And the new Director of Football at N17 has ‘urged the club’ to go after him. However, they may find it difficult to trump the 23-year-old’s potential suitors.
Sassuolo chief, Giovanni Carnevali, has revealed that Arsenal are ahead in the race because they have tabled an official offer. Juventus are also interested in the Italy international and are in talks over a potential deal.
“Juventus are the only Italian club we talked to about Locatelli. We will continue these talks… Arsenal are one of these [clubs interested from abroad] and they are ahead of everyone else because they tabled the only concrete offer we have received so far.”
The race for Locatelli
The £43m-rated Locatelli would be a useful addition to Nuno Espirito Santo’s side. Spurs have confirmed the appointment of the former Wolves boss and the report mentions that he will be given money to spend in the summer, regardless of Harry Kane’s future at the club.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg was impressive last season under Jose Mourinho, and then Ryan Mason. The former Southampton midfielder has carried that form with Denmark into the UEFA Euros 2020.
And Locatelli would be a suitable partner for him in the heart of Spurs’ midfield. But with Arsenal already tabling an offer for the midfielder, Spurs would have ground to make up; should they decide to formalize any interest in him.

If the Lilywhites refrain from entering the race for the midfielder, the focus should lie on keeping hold of Harry Kane and looking for a forward that can play back up to the English striker, or fill in for the outgoing Gareth Bale on the right-wing.
