Aston Villa tipped to sign Tottenham Hotspur star Dele Alli
Speaking in an interview on Football FanCast (h/t Birmingham Live), former Premier League striker, Dean Windass, mentioned Aston Villa as a potential transfer destination for Tottenham Hotspur playmaker, Dele Alli.
The English midfielder has had a tough couple of seasons at Spurs. He was not favoured by Jose Mourinho and made a comeback to the first team under Ryan Mason.
But with Nuno Espirito Santo now the new Spurs boss, his future is uncertain. Jack Grealish of Villa is linked with a switch to Manchester City, but Windass believes that regardless of Grealish’s future, Alli is one player the Villans should keep tabs on.
“He would be a big player for Villa. I know he’s a different type of player to Jack, but with him being young and English. Dele wants to play, players want to play, they’re not happy when they’re not playing. Would be a good fit for Villa even if they keep Jack, to strengthen the team, he would be unbelievable.”
Alli tipped for Villa transfer
He then added that Alli is the kind of player that would suit Dean Smith’s side. Alli joined Spurs from MK Dons in 2015 and has since become a popular name in the European football landscape courtesy of his rise under Mauricio Pochettino.
“They would probably want £50m-£60m for Dele Alli, but that’s the type of player Dean Smith would want to bring in if Jack left.”
PSG has been touted as a potential destination for the 25-year-old as well; with Pochettino said to be wanting a reunion with him. And more suitors can come to the fore if he becomes available in the market. (h/t Birmingham Live)
