Transfer News: Tottenham learn price for Milan Skriniar

According to transfer news from Express, Tottenham will have to shell out £51.5m if they want Milan Skriniar. Reputed Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims that Spurs still retain an interest in the Inter Milan defender and could go after him again.

Since last year, the centre-back has gone on to enjoy a stunning season, helping Inter Milan to their first Serie A title in over ten years. However, there are fears that there could be an exodus of players from the Italian champions due to financial issues, something which led to manager Antonio Conte quitting.

It is clear that Spurs need some defensive reinforcements this season. Toby Alderweireld, at 32, is not getting any younger while Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez are nearly not consistent enough to be trusted week in week out. Joe Rodon has shown glimpses of promise but is still one for the future.

Now, Fabio Paratici will be looking to address the issues in the squad after the appointment of Nuno Espirito Santo. One name that Spurs are looking to return for is Milan Skriniar. The Slovakian has two more years on his current deal and Inter will look to demand an eye-watering £51.5m for the star defender.

There’s a good reason Spurs are still after the Inter defender even after a year. He is a classy operator at the back and can fit into a variety of formations. Compared to the options Spurs have currently, Skriniar is well above them in terms of quality. The price tag may seem a bit steep but that is what it might cost for Tottenham to bring in good players.
