Harry Kane yet to contact new Tottenham boss Nuno as the focus remains on Euros
Speaking to talkSPORT (h/t The Athletic), Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has claimed that he is yet to speak to new manager Nuno Espirito Santo as his focus remains on the Euros.
After long last, Tottenham finally named a new manager last week, confirming Nuno as the successor to fellow Portuguese tactician Jose Mourinho, who was axed in late April.
The former Wolves boss, though, was not Spurs’ first-choice for the job, with the club having gone through various candidates including Antonio Conte, Paulo Fonseca and Gennaro Gattuso before his appointment. (h/t The Athletic)
Nuno has a huge task at his hands at Tottenham given how the previous season ended on a whimper after signs of promise early on. One of the most important things on the manager’s agenda will be convincing Kane to stay at the club. The 27-year-old England captain is keen on securing an exit this summer with Manchester City keen on signing him. (h/t The Athletic)
Following the appointment, Kane was asked if he had a chance to speak to the new manager, to which he said (h/t The Athletic):
“Whenever a new manager comes in, I guess there’s a level of excitement around the club. Obviously, I’ve not been there and not had any contact with him. I’m away with England now and my full focus is on here. Hopefully, we’ve got a week left.
“He’s a great manager and did a great job at Wolves and got them playing a really good way. Let’s get back and I’m sure we’ll be in contact after the tournament.”

With England currently in the semi-finals, it is the right thing that Kane is focused on the matters at hand than worry about his club future. It will be up to Nuno and sporting director Fabio Paratici to convince him to remain a Tottenham player beyond the summer. For the time being though, he will be keen on leading the Three Lions to the trophy.
