Tottenham players encouraged by manager Nuno Espirito Santo’s positivity
According to The Athletic [Subscription Required], Tottenham Hotspur stars have been given major encouragement by the positivity shown by newly-appointed manager Nuno Espirito Santo.
Tottenham’s long drawn out pursuit of a new manager came to an end last week when Nuno was named as the new head coach, replacing his compatriot Jose Mourinho, who was sacked way back in April.
It is no secret that Nuno was not the first choice for Tottenham for the manager job. Indeed, the Lilywhites ran down a number of other options before settling in on the Portuguese tactician, who had just quit Wolves at the end of the 2020/21 campaign.
So, naturally, there have been apprehensions within the fans over the appointment. The report claims that a similar feeling of wariness was prevalent among the Tottenham players as well with regard to Nuno becoming the new manager. There was a sense that the 47-year-old could end up being a lot similar to his predecessor, Mourinho.
However, it seems to have evaporated quite quickly, with the report stating that the Tottenham Hotspur players have been massively encouraged by the positivity that Nuno has brought into the club. So much so that, the players now want to ‘knuckle down’ and make a solid impression on their new gaffer.
This is certainly a step in the right direction for Tottenham, as well as Nuno, who will want to have the support of his players after the turbulent period under Jose.
