Transfer News: Tottenham maintain a strong interest in AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie
According to transfer news from Eurosport, Tottenham Hotspur are serious about their interest in AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie and are exploring the possibility of signing the Ivorian.
Kessie started out at the academy of Stella Club in his homeland Ivory Coast before joining Serie A side Atalanta in 2015. After a season-long loan stint at Cesena, Kessie became a regular at Atalanta and grew into one of the most promising youngsters in Serie A.
In 2017, AC Milan came calling, signing him on a two-year loan deal before making his transfer permanent in 2019. The midfielder has grown into the beating heart of this AC Milan side and enjoyed a stunning 2020/21 season during which he produced a tally of 14 goals and 6 assists from 50 games in all competitions, helping them to second place in Serie A. Kessie is entering the final year of his contract with AC Milan and talks over a new deal haven’t gone as per plans. This has alerted Tottenham, who are monitoring the situation closely and could be open to launching an offer if the midfielder shows signs that he is ready to move on in the summer. (h/t Eurosport)
A midfield powerhouse like Kessie would certainly be an exciting addition for Spurs. The 24-year-old is coming on the back of an excellent season. His all-action style would fit in perfectly in the Premier League, while without a doubt, he would be a major upgrade on some of the current crop in Harry Winks, Moussa Sissoko and potentially, Tanguy Ndombele as well.

Given his contract situation, Kessie isn’t likely to cost a bomb either and with his still in front of him, he would be a brilliant signing for Tottenham. Something that Fabio Paratici & co. should push hard to make happen.
