Manchester United enter the race for Tottenham target Joachim Andersen
According to transfer news from Express, Manchester United have entered the race for Tottenham target Joachim Andersen. United have kept Andersen as an alternative to their first-choice target Raphael Varane in a surprising decision.
The Danish defender spent the early parts of his career in his homeland before making the switch to FC Twente. A well-travelled defender, Andersen has also had spells at Sampdoria and Lyon before arriving in England on loan with Fulham.
The 25-year-old missed a few games early in the season due to injury but since returning to full fitness, he had been a mainstay at the back for the Cottagers. Andersen was also a part of the Denmark squad in the Euros. However, he did not get much of a chance to impress.
It would now seem that Manchester United have put themselves in the picture for signing the £26m-rated defender. The Dane is a target for Spurs but will now see competition from United. In their search for a defender, United have kept their eye on Varane. However, Andersen is a surprising name that they have kept as a backup.

Fulham might not have survived the drop last season but Andersen did no harm to his reputation. A good number of outings meant that he was likely to be pursued by other clubs. While Andersen might not exactly be a star name, he is a solid defender to have. However, Spurs would want to act fast on their interest ahead of Manchester United.
