Transfer News: Manchester United enter race for Tottenham target Marcel Sabitzer
According to transfer news from Daily Star, Manchester United have entered the race for Tottenham target Marcel Sabitzer. United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer highly rates the RB Leipzig midfielder. Sabitzer has been linked with a move away from the German side this season.
Sabitzer has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the Bundesliga. He was one of the cornerstones of Leipzig’s fairytale march to the semi-final of the Champions League in 2020. The Austrian has amassed 92 goal contributions in 227 appearances for the club in all competitions so far.
He was also a part of the Austrian side that impressed in the Euros until they were knocked out in the round of 16. Sabitzer is now into the last year of his contract at Leipzig and is looking to exit the club. That has seen a host of clubs such as Spurs, AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund and now Manchester United take interest in him.
Jan Aage Fjortoft gave his opinion on Sabitzer and the interest generated in him.
“Looks like the RB Leipzig player will leave the club this summer. One year left of his contact. Been linked to a couple of English clubs. I know OGS rates him highly, so do Tottenham. But the Austrian could stay in Germany as Dortmund is showing interest.”

Sabitzer, at 27, is in the peak years of his career. The midfielder is a versatile player who can operate in a box-to-box role or a holding role. He is also adept at playing out wide. A consistent source of goals and assists as well, he could be a very smart addition to our side.
