Transfer News: Tottenham are strong contenders for Mikkel Damsgaard
According to transfer news from Express, Tottenham are strong contenders for the signing of Mikkel Damsgaard. A move to the Premier League is most likely and that gives Spurs a good chance for snapping up the Danish starlet from Sampdoria.
The youngster’s growing reputation in his homeland was enough to prompt Sampdoria to offer him a route to Italy this past summer. Damsgaard has enjoyed a promising start to life in Serie A with two goals and four assists in 35 games.
While those are not very glittery numbers, Damsgaard showed what a talent he is during Denmark’s resilient run in the Euros. Two goals and an assist, including a stunning free-kick against England, made sure the world took notice of this 21-year-old.
Damsgaard’s stock is soaring at the moment, with interest from a host of clubs. AC Milan, Juventus and Inter Milan are the Italian sides chasing him. There is interest from the Premier League as well, with Leicester, West Ham and Leeds previously expressing interest. However, Tottenham, under the direction of Fabio Paratici could hold the edge as the player expects to move to the Premier League.

Sampdoria are under no pressure to sell but an offer of around £34million could be enough to prise away the Danish midfielder. The fee looks decent given that he still has three more years on his current deal. Damsgaard is a hugely talented player who will be in demand over the summer. It is now up to Spurs and Paratici to get a deal over the line.
