Transfer News: Tottenham have not made a move for Miralem Pjanic
According to transfer news from The Athletic (subscription required), Tottenham have not made a move for Miralem Pjanic. He is not seen as a priority target as Spurs are looking to add to their attack and defence first.
Miralem Pjanic was once regarded as one of the best technical midfielders in Europe. He flourished at sides like Lyon and Roma before making the jump to Juventus. After a highly successful four years in Turin, Pjanic moved to Barcelona in a swap deal. It saw Arthur Melo heading the other way.
However, Pjanic hardly enjoyed his first year in La Liga. He failed to make regular appearances. Add to that Barcelona’s struggles in terms of finances and it is widely expected that they would sanction the sale of a few players such as Pjanic.
It was earlier the case that Spurs were after Pjanic for a while now. They were also said to be fending off competition from Manchester United his signature. However, it would seem that Spurs have not made a move for the Bosnian midfielder as he is not a priority at this point (h/t The Athletic).

In all honestly, Spurs not making a move for Pjanic is perhaps for the best. At 31 years of age, he isn’t exactly the player the club would want for the long term. Yes, he is still a quality player but this is something they can revisit after signing players in required positions.
