Harry Kane boost for Tottenham as Man City eye Antoine Griezmann
According to Foot Mercato (h/t Football.london), Tottenham have been handed a major boost with regard to the future of Harry Kane as Manchester City have shifted their attention to Antoine Griezmann.
Kane has expressed his desire to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer after yet another trophyless season. Immediately, Manchester City emerged as a potential destination for the 27-year-old with the Premier League champions looking for a replacement for the departed club legend Sergio Aguero. The report suggests that the Cityzens had lodged a bid worth £100m last month in an effort to secure Kane’s signing. However, the offer was rebuffed by Tottenham, with chairman Daniel Levy having no intentions of offloading his star man this summer.
And Tottenham may have been given a boost in their bid to keep hold of the England captain as Manchester City have now seemingly set their sights on Barcelona superstar Antoine Griezmann.
The report adds that the Premier League champions see him as a viable alternative for Kane have already contacted Barcelona to explore the possibility of a move, with manager Pep Guardiola also personally calling the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner to check about a transfer.
And should City make a substantial offer for Griezmann, Barcelona are very much likely to accept it given their financial woes.

And, in case Manchester City secure the signing of Griezmann, they are unlikely to make a move for Kane this summer. Despite their deep pockets a move for both superstars in a single window might prove to be out of their reach.
So, should there be progress made on the Griezmann deal, Tottenham’s hopes of holding on to Kane should get boosted.
