Harry Kane not getting drawn into mind games ahead of Italy vs England
According to the Mirror, Tottenham superstar and England captain Harry Kane has refused to be drawn into a war of words with Giorgio Chiellini ahead of the UEFA Euro 2020 final against Italy.
England will participate in their first major tournament final in 55 years later tonight at Wembley when they lock horns with Italy. The Three Lions have been a tough team to beat throughout the Euros and will be aiming to go all the way on Sunday in front of a packed Wembley crowd.
And, leading up to the game, captain Harry Kane, who has been in fine form in recent games, has claimed that he is focused on the task at hand rather than getting involved with any war of words with his opposite number Giorgio Chiellini.
The Italy captain had kicked Kane during the pair’s first international meeting around six years ago, which was followed by his comments against Tottenham after Juventus had eliminated them from the Champions League in 2018.
“It’s the history of Tottenham. They always create many chances and score so much but in the end, they are always missing something to arrive at the end.”
Kane, though, has refused to focus on what’s been said and done in the past. The Tottenham superstar, however, did insist that he was looking forward to facing the 36-year-old.
“The battle isn’t me against Chiellini. The battle is going to be our team against theirs and it’s going to be tough. Obviously, I remember it when it happened. But he’s a respected footballer and a fantastic player. I’m looking forward to another battle. As a player, you want to pit yourselves against the best and the two centre-halves Italy have are definitely that.”

Chiellini, despite being 36 years old, remains a top defender. Kane going up against the wily centre-back, will certainly be a battle worth watching as the two nations fight it out for European glory at Wembley on Sunday.
