Transfer News: Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur in Isco race
According to a report by The Mirror (h/t ESPN), Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring the future of Real Madrid ace Isco, with London rivals Arsenal also interested.
The Spain international is in the last year of his contract at Santiago Bernabeu. A renewal looks unlikely as of now, leaving Los Galacticos with a decision to make of either selling him this summer or letting him go on a free transfer 12 months later. (h/t ESPN)
The 29-year-old is likely to cost any potential suitor at least £6million a year in wages plus add-ons, and his future will be decided soon after he meets his new boss, Carlo Ancelotti.
Arsenal’s interest does not come as a surprise considering they would want a replacement for Martin Odegaard, who returned to Real Madrid after the end of his loan spell. But AC Milan are also keen on Isco, which indicates a potential three-way race for Isco.
Race for Isco
The former Malaga man would be a quality addition at Spurs as the club could use a number 10. Lucas Moura, Giovani Lo Celso, and Dele Alli can play in that role, but Isco’s experience at Madrid and for Spain makes him a shoo-in for the starting spot.
He is also pretty versatile, capable of playing on both wings. That would be a useful trait to have, considering Spurs saw Gareth Bale depart.
Spurs are in the UEFA Europa Conference League but that fades in comparison to Milan’s Champions League berth for next season. Arsenal, on the other hand, have no European football to offer.

It remains to be seen where Isco plays his football next season but Spurs fans would hope that Fabio Paratici and Daniel Levy can get him to N17.
