Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur interested in Renato Sanches
According to transfer news from Le10 Sport (h/t Sky Sports), Tottenham Hotspur have set their sights on a potential summer move for LOSC Lille midfielder Renato Sanches.
A product of the famed Benfica youth academy, Sanches burst onto the scenes as a teenager in 2015, making quite an impact at club and international level. Having been part of the Portugal side that won the UEFA Euro 2016, the midfielder earned a big move to Bayern Munich the same year.
However, after a torrid debut season in Bavaria, Sanches arrived in England, joining Swansea City on what was a forgettable season-long loan spell. Back at Bayern in 2018, the midfielder failed to get going and eventually signed for Lille in the summer of 2019 where he has been able to get his career back on track.
Indeed, Sanches was a key member of the side as Lille went on to win the Ligue 1 title in the 2020/21 tern. He followed it up with some solid performances at the UEFA Euro 2020 with Portugal, alerting a number of top clubs in the summer window.
Among those interested, as per the aforementioned report, are Tottenham Hotspur. The Lilywhites are set for a rejig under new boss Nuno Espirito Santo. And, midfield is an area where the club could certainly use an upgrade over the likes of Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko.
Sanches, to that end, would be a fine addition, if he is able to continue his resurgent run.

However, the report does mention that Tottenham will have to battle with La Liga giants Barcelona for the signing of the 23-year-old Portuguese international. That is something that could pose a problem for Spurs in their pursuit of Sanches.
