Tottenham table offer for Napoli captain Lorenzo Insigne
Speaking on Radio Kiss Kiss (h/t Football.london), Italian journalist Paolo Paganini has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have made an offer to try and sign Lorenzo Insigne from Napoli this summer.
Insigne has grown into one of the most reliable forwards in Serie A over the years. The 30-year-old has racked up near 400 appearances for Napoli so far, scoring 109 goals and setting up 85 more. (h/t Transfermarkt)
Insigne, though, is entering the final year of his £82,000-a-week contract with the Serie A giants, leading to speculations over his future. The 30-year-old, who was one of the standout performers for Italy as they went on to win the UEFA Euro 2020, is demanding a pay packet worth €5m per year. Napoli, however, are not willing to go above €3.5m-a-year, leading to a standoff in negotiations. (h/t Mirror)
And Paganini has claimed that the contract situation, coupled with his performances at the Euros have led to mounting interest in Insigne, with Tottenham among the clubs keen. In fact, he even adds that the Lilywhites have made an offer for the 30-year-old already. (h/t Football.london)
“The most important offers [for Insigne] have come from abroad, especially from Tottenham. After the Euros, Lorenzo has many new admirers.”
This comes after Napoli’s eccentric president Aurelio De Laurentiis admitted that the club may have to part ways with Insigne this summer.
“Insigne is a product of the academy and future depends on him. If he is tired of Napoli and wants to go around Europe, it’s his choice, not ours.”

Insigne showed his quality at the Euros over the past month or so. Even though he may be 30, the Napoli captain has plenty left to offer. And with his contract running out next year, Tottenham could benefit from signing him in a potential cut-price deal this summer.
