Transfer News: Tottenham make enquiry for Maxence Lacroix
According to transfer news from Eurosport, Tottenham Hotspur have made an enquiry over the possibility of signing VfL Wolfsburg defender Maxence Lacroix.
Lacroix came through the youth ranks at French club Sochaux, for whom he went on to make 28 first-team appearances. The 21-year-old made the switch to Germany in the summer transfer window last year, signing for Wolfsburg, where he has become an instant hit.
Indeed, the towering defender played a key role as the Wolves ended up securing qualification for the UEFA Champions League for next season by the way of a fourth-place finish in the Bundesliga. Lacroix featured 36 times in his debut season with the German club, scoring and assisting a couple of goals each as well.
Tottenham’s interest in Lacroix came to light earlier this week (h/t Express) and now there seems to be a development on the front, with the aforementioned report from Eurosport claiming that the north Londoners have lodged an enquiry with Wolfsburg for the towering French defender.
A move for the 21-year-old makes a world of sense for Tottenham, considering that Toby Alderweireld is past his prime while neither Eric Dier nor Davinson Sanchez have shown the desired level of consistency required at this level.
With Lacroix and last summer signing Joe Rodon, who showed his quality in Wales’ brief stay at the UEFA Euro 2020, Tottenham’s defence could potentially be sorted for the future.

The report does not mention as to how Wolfsburg responded to Tottenham’s enquiry for Lacroix. It will be interesting to see whether the club decides to press ahead with their pursuit of the Frenchman or look elsewhere for defensive reinforcements.
