Tottenham target Danny Ings holding out for Man City, United move
According to talkSPORT (h/t football.london), Tottenham have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Southampton striker Danny Ings as he desires a transfer to either Manchester City or Manchester United.
Ings has been with Southampton since 2018, having joined from Liverpool, initially on loan before making the transfer permanent a year later. The England international enjoyed a brilliant 2019/20 season during which he finished as the second-highest goalscorer in the Premier League.
While the 2020/21 campaign start on a similar note, Ings was bogged down by injuries in the latter stages while the Saints’ poor form also meant that he wasn’t able to repeat his heroics from the past season. He still managed 12 goals in the league for a team that finished 15th.
Ings’ future has become a topic of speculation though as he is in the final year of his contract. BBC reported earlier this month that the 28-year-old had turned down a four-year deal offered by Southampton.
In the aftermath of this, The Telegraph claimed that Tottenham had made Ings their priority target as new manager Nuno Espirito Santo sought to pair up the former Burnley frontman with star striker Harry Kane.
However, those plans may have not hit a roadblock as Ings, despite the strong interest from Tottenham, is holding out for a move to either Manchester City or Manchester United this summer, having decided not to pen a new contract with the south coast club. (h/t football.london)

Ings would have been a top signing for Tottenham this summer, irrespective of what happens with regard to the future of Harry Kane. However, it seems like the 28-year-old has his heart set on a transfer to Manchester this summer.
