Tottenham set to make their first signing ahead of the new season

Pierluigi Gollini could not hide his emotions ahead of joining Tottenham. The Atlanta goalkeeper insisted to Sky Sport Italia he is ‘very happy’ to join the North Londoners. Sky cameras caught Gollini during his medical in Italy. The footage was shared by journalist, Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.

Pierluigi Gollini has a history in England. The Italian was initially signed by Manchester United in 2012. In 2014, he made his senior debut for Italian side Hellas Verona. Aston Villa, then in the Championship, signed Gollini in 2016.

In 2017, Atalanta picked Gollini on loan. However, the Italian club made the deal permanent a year later. Gollini played an important part in Atalanta’s 2020/21 UEFA Champions League campaign. They reached the round of 16, where they lost to Real Madrid.

Contract with Tottenham Hotspur

Earlier, Fabrizio Romano revealed the details of Gollini’s contract with Spurs. The Italian will join on a season-long loan. However, Spurs do have an option to extend the loan for another season. The buy option will cost Tottenham €15m.

He will fly to London tomorrow to complete his medical. He will also become the first signing of Nuno Espirito Santo’s era via Daily Hotspurs (h/t Fabrizio Romano)

Club captain Hugo Lloris is entering the final year of his Spurs tenure. The French International will be free to negotiate with other clubs in January.
