Toby Alderweireld spotted in Qatar as Tottenham exit looms
According to football.london, Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld is on the verge of sealing a transfer to Qatari club Al-Duhail after he was spotted in the Middle East.
Alderweireld has been with Tottenham Hotspur since the summer of 2015, having joined from La Liga giants Atletico Madrid. During his time at the club, the Belgian international has grown into a key player for the team, establishing himself as one of the best in the Premier League during his peak years.
During his time at the club, the 32-year-old has amassed 236 appearances, scoring nine goals and registering five assists as well. Alderweireld had signed a new contract with Tottenham in December 2019, extending his stay at the club till the summer of 2023.
However, it seems like he will be leaving well before that. On Saturday, The Telegraph broke the news that Tottenham had accepted an offer of £13m from Qatar-based outfit Al-Duhail for the Belgian international.
And things are seemingly moving at a rapid pace on the transfer permanent as only a day later, Alderweireld has been snapped in Qatar wearing the scarves of the club, all but confirming the transfer. (h/t football.london)

Alderweireld has been a terrific servant for Tottenham over the years. At 32, he had started to show signs of slowing down though. And considering that he is one of the highest earners at the club, offloading him makes sense for Spurs as they look to usher in a new era under the management of Nuno Espirito Santo.
