Transfer News: Tottenham working on swap deal for Caleb Chukwuemeka

According to transfer news from Football Insider (h/t ESPN) Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Northampton Town starlet Caleb Chukwuemeka and are working on a swap deal for the teenager.

The 19-year-old striker is a product of the Northampton Town youth academy. He made his first-team debut for the League One club this past season and has gone on to make 28 appearances so far, scoring two goals.

Chukwuemeka is a versatile attacker who can play anywhere across the frontline. The 19-year-old is tied to a scholarship contract with the League One club. Brother of Aston Villa’s teenage prodigy Carney Chukwuemeka, Caleb is yet to sign a professional contract with Northampton Town, with his current deal running out next year.

Brother of Aston Villa’s teenage prodigy Carney Chukwuemeka, Caleb has turned down multiple attempts from Northampton Town to tie him down to a professional contract. And this has alerted a host of clubs in England and Europe, including Tottenham Hotspur, as per the report.

Tottenham, according to the aforementioned report, are considering offering one of their own youngsters to Northampton Town in order to facilitate the transfer of Chukwuemeka. That is certainly an interesting way to go about things for Spurs considering that the teenager is unlikely to cost much given his contract situation.
