Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic could be tempted to join Tottenham despite contract negotiations
According to Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Express), Tottenham Hotspur are in the race to sign Dusan Vlahovic. The report adds that the player has two years left on his deal with talks already started over an extension. However, the striker could be tempted by the prospect of signing for Spurs.
On Dusan Vlahovic
Dusan Vlahovic is a product of Partizan Belgrade’s academy. Graduating through the ranks, he made his first-team debut in 2018. In 2016, the Serbian international caught interest from Arsenal and Juventus. However, Partizan stayed put on their striker.
Fiorentina signed Vlahovic in June 2017. He made his debut for the Italian side in 2018. In the 2019/2020 season, at the age of 20, he scored 6 goals and 1 assist in 30 Serie A appearances. He had his most productive season in 2020/2021. Vlahovic racked up 21 goals and 2 assists in 37 Serie A appearances.
The interest for his signature is coming from all over Europe. According to reports in Italy ( h/t football.london), the likes of Atletico Madrid, AC Milan and Juventus have been linked as potential destinations, while Tottenham are also keen.
He recently scored seven goals in one match. Fiorentina were playing Italian fourth-tier side Foligno. Vlahovic was introduced at halftime. He bagged seven goals as Fiorentina won 11-0.
What it means for Spurs
According to the Express, new managing director Fabio Paratici identified Vlahovic as a big-money transfer target this summer. The Italian is counting on Vlahovic to lead the line for the Lilywhites in case of Harry Kane’s departure.
And even though Vlahovic has currently not objected to contract talks with Fiorentina, he could very well be tempted to make the switch to Tottenham if the club came calling. Furthermore, as part of the contract negotiations, the 21-year-old has also asked for the club to include a £60m release clause, hinting that he might not see a long-term future in Florence.
