Transfer News: Journalist provides update on Cristian Romero to Tottenham, dismisses Barca rumours
Football transfer guru Fabrizio Romano revealed the latest development in the Cristian Romero to Tottenham saga. As per his tweet, the player is set to meet the Atalanta board and manager tomorrow. In the meeting, Romero is said to reveal that a move to Tottenham is his priority. The player sees the move as something he “can’t miss”.

The tweet also suggests that Spurs have made an improved bid last Friday. However, Atalanta are yet to respond. The good news for the Spurs faithful is that, according to Romano, the rumours about a bid from Barca for Romero are made up.
Cristian Romero soon to be at Tottenham?
This recent development could mean that Tottenham are closer than ever to land the Argentine. After securing the signature of Bryan Gil and Pierluigi Gollini, this should be the next step from Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici in the market.
The club should aim to put a stamp on the deal sooner rather than later with the new season approaching.
The defender is a priority target and the fee set by Atalanta is €55m. However, Romano has previously mentioned that the likes of Kurt Zouma, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Luka Milenkovic could emerge as potential options if an agreement for Romero is not reached.

The current roster of centre-backs includes the likes of Eric Dier, Joe Rodon, Japhet Tanganga and Davinson Sanchez. A Copa America 2021 winner with Argentina, who was the “Defender of the Season” in Serie A last term, he could give a huge boost to the start of the Nuno Espirito Santo era.
With defender Toby Alderweireld already at Al-Duhail for this season, it could be the case of Cristian Romero being a potential replacement for the Belgian. However, we will probably know more about this situation in the coming days.
