Scottish giants Celtic have Tottenham Hotspur’s Cameron Carter-Vickers on their radar
According to the Daily Record, Celtic are exploring the possibility of signing Cameron Carter-Vickers from Tottenham Hotspur. However, the report adds that the North London club have already rejected a loan bid from the Scottish side. The 23-year-old ‘wants a fresh start’ and hence, a loan move is not something he’d be interested in either.
Carter-Vickers wants to leave the club for good. However, Celtic need to up their offer for the centre-back. The club could also face competition from Norwich City, Newcastle and Bournemouth, who share an interest in Carter-Vickers. (h/t Daily Record)
Cameron Carter-Vickers at Tottenham
A move away from N17 could certainly make sense for the US international. Carter-Vickers came through the ranks of Tottenham Hotspur’s academy. He made his first-team debut in 2016 under Mauricio Pochettino in an EFL cup game.
The defender also has a couple of FA Cup games under his belt for the Lilywhites. However, he is yet to make an appearance in the English top-flight.
From 2017 until now, he has been on loan spells at different championship clubs. Carter-Vickers has been to Sheffield United, Ipswich Town, Swansea, Stoke City and Luton. He spent the 2020/2021 season at Bournemouth.
It is fair to say the American defender has failed to carve out a niche for himself at the club. Tottenham, who should be looking for defenders during this window, may not count on Carter-Vickers to be an instant first-team starter considering his inexperience in the top flight.

The player, on the other hand, is still 23. His underwhelming career at Tottenham has led to him not being in the USA national team since 2017.
A fresh start at any of those clubs mentioned above could prove to be the turning point in his career.
