Arsenal enter the race for Tottenham target Takehiro Tomiyasu
According to Corriere dello Sport (h/t Express), Arsenal have entered the race for Tottenham target Takehiro Tomiyasu. Our rivals Arsenal have seemingly held talks in the background in a bid to nab the Bologna defender. There is also said to be interest from other Premier League clubs.
This has been a summer of change for Spurs. After the lows of last season, measures were taken to avoid the same. Nuno Espirito Santo was appointed as the new manager while Fabio Paratici has carried out his work in the transfer market. Bryan Gil, Pierluigi Gollini and Cristian Romero have been signed already.
However, one name that Spurs have been after quite a while now is Takehiro Tomiyasu. Spurs were understood to be close to a deal despite seeing a bid of £15.5million being rejected at the start of last month. The negotiations had to be stopped as the player went on international duty with Japan.
While there is the belief that Spurs can eventually land their man, it seems like Arsenal have entered the race now. Talks are said to be going on between the club and the player’s camp over a move. Apparently, the player wants a move to the Premier League and it could be with any club.

This is clearly a blow for Spurs who have been chasing the player through most of the summer. Nothing is settled as of now which should give the club an opportunity to get their man. However, they will need to pick up the pace if they don’t want Tomiyasu at the rival camp for this season.
