Transfer News: Tottenham submit first bid for Mikkel Damsgaard
According to transfer news from Calciomercato (h/t Express), Tottenham have submitted their first bid for Mikkel Damsgaard. It has come to the fore that a £17m offer has been made for the Sampdoria and Denmark starlet as more arrivals are expected at Spurs.
International tournaments have always been a stage for new talents to showcase their skill and EURO 2020 was no different. We saw a host of underdog sides trumping the more established names and behind them were a number of young stars. Denmark were among those sides and Mikkel Damsgaard was the one pulling the strings for them.
The Sampdoria starlet took the tournament by storm with his skills. He managed to get two goals and an assist. His freekick against England was a thing of beauty as well. Prior to the Euros, Damsgaard was a consistent performer for Sampdoria with his goals and assists. Now, he could well be linking up with Spurs as Fabio Paratici eyes more signings.
As Paratici navigates the Serie A for more names, it is Damsgaard who has managed to catch the eye. Spurs are said to have already made a move for the 21-year-old with an opening bid of £17m. Although, Sampdoria are said to value the player at double that offer. Damsgaard is also said to be a target for our former manager, Jose Mourinho, at Roma.

The young Dane can be a shrewd addition to our side given his age and talent. However, his valuation might end up becoming a problem given the difference in Spurs’ offer and Sampdoria’s valuation. Nonetheless, he is a player worth investing in on the basis of what he displayed over the Euros.
