Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo provides latest update on Harry Kane fitness ahead of Manchester City clash
According to The Athletic, Nuno Espirito Santo has provided an update on Tottenham star Harry Kane ahead of the club’s season opener against Manchester City.
There has been a lot of speculation regarding the player’s involvement in the game as it could be a game against his future employers. The striker has been linked with a move to the Etihad this summer after he made it clear to Spurs that he wants to leave the club.
Had he not made his indication clear enough to the club, the 28-year-old failed to report to training last week and remained on holiday, causing a lot of anger amongst the Spurs hierarchy. The player, however, did re-join first-team training today, and the player could now be available for the game against Manchester City.
Nuno Espirito Santo spoke in the press conference ahead of the game against City and confirmed Kane’s inclusion in training and reassured fans that he is still a Spurs player. He said (h/t The Athletic):
“All the players who work with us are our players. He’s (Kane) here with us.
“He’s a Tottenham player. He’s here with us. We have to think about tomorrow. Let’s prepare the training session of tomorrow and go day by day.
Nuno also confirmed that he has talked to Kane about his future.
“Harry joined the group today, he trained, we had a talk. Of course, it’s a private conversation, but everything is OK.”

Kane was a crucial part of Tottenham’s squad last season as he ended up winning the Premier League Golden Boot by scoring 23 goals. He also provided 14 assists in 35 Premier League appearances.
Thus, Nuno Espirito Santo would be hoping to have the English international available not just for the game on the weekend, but also for the rest of the season, as he takes the reins at Tottenham in his debut season at the club.
