Tottenham Hotspur are still in talks to sign Lautaro Martinez this summer
According to The Times (h/t football.london), Tottenham Hotspur are still in the market to sign Lautaro Martinez with talks said to be “progressing” over a potential move this summer.
The North London outfit have been targeting the player for a while, and they apparently also had a bid of over £51million accepted by Inter Milan.
However, things took a massive turn when Spurs’ rivals Chelsea came into the market and snatched Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan for a massive £97.5million, making the Italian club consider if it would be a good move to let both their strikers leave the club in the same window.
While that was the case until now, things have changed with Tottenham now making progress in a deal to sign the Argentine this summer. The 23-year-old was in sensational form for Inter Milan last season as he netted 17 goals and provided a further 10 assists in 38 Serie A appearances, helping the San Siro outfit win the league title for the first time in a decade.
His form has also seen him attract interest from various clubs this summer, with rivals Arsenal and Spanish giants Barcelona also trying to lure the player to their respective cities.
Fabio Paratici is working hard on a deal to sign the 23-year-old despite Inter’s resistance to keeping the player. However, Martinez’s arrival may not necessarily mean that Harry Kane will leave the North London-based side as the Argentine could also partner the Englishman upfront.
