Leeds United are set to offer a new contract to Patrick Bamford amidst links with Tottenham Hotspur
According to The Telegraph, Leeds United are planning on offering forward Patrick Bamford a new contract amidst rumours linking the player to Tottenham Hotspur.
The 27-year-old has been of interest to Tottenham this summer after an impressive spell with Leeds United last season. The Englishman featured in every Premier League game for the Whites last season as he scored 17 goals and provided 8 assists in the process.
Spurs are eyeing the forward to partner Harry Kane up front while Bamford is also capable of providing sufficient cover in that role. The 27-year-old has not signed a new contract with Leeds since he arrived in 2018 from Middlesbrough and the club are now keen on tying down the player with a new deal to ward off any and all interest from any suitors for the player. Bamford’s impressive performances also led to him being in contention for the Euros squad with England, but unfortunately, the Three Lions went with Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins instead.
Although Bamford has been targeted by Spurs this summer, the club’s main target is Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic, who was also in scintillating form last season as he scored 21 Serie A goals for the Italian outfit.
However, Fiorentina are trying to enact the same trick as Leeds United by trying to sign Vlahovic on a new contract this summer. Moreover, the Serbian has also attracted interest from Atletico Madrid this summer, which in turn could put Spurs in a bidding war with the Spanish outfit.
