Transfer News: Barcelona ace Ilaix Moriba is on the radar of Tottenham Hotspur
According to transfer news from 90min.com (h/t Mirror), Tottenham Hotspur have been in contact with 18-year-old Ilaix Moriba as a move could be on the cards this summer for the Barcelona wonderkid.
Moriba, who has refused a contract extension at Barcelona, was included in the club’s reserve squad training camp earlier this month, but the Catalonia-based side are now playing hardball with the player’s future up in the air.
The 18-year-old was dropped for a friendly against UE Olot, which was a subtle indication that the player will lose several more minutes if he fails to sign a new contract. This problem exists because Barcelona do not want to lose the player on a free transfer next summer, especially not after they inserted an £86million release clause when he was just 16 years old.
The Camp Nou outfit are ready to let go of the player if the right price is offered and this is where Tottenham come in. The North London club have been interested in bringing in midfield reinforcements all summer.
Spurs are facing the prospect of losing Harry Winks this summer and they could easily replace the outgoing Englishman with Moriba, who given his age and talent, could certainly set alight the Tottenham fans.
While no specific price has been mentioned on the player, Tottenham should jump the gun and hand over the money if they are really interested in signing the player. The 18-year-old has attracted interest from Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City & Chelsea, while Spanish giants Real Madrid were also in talks with the player earlier this summer.

Spurs’ new Managing Director of football in Fabio Paratici has conducted some excellent business this season for the club by bringing in the likes of Pierluigi Gollini, Bryan Gil, and Cristian Romero. If the North London outfit do manage to convince Moriba to sign for them, it would be the cherry on top of a great summer transfer window.
