Tottenham Hotspur are leading the race for Nikola Milenkovic.

Tottenham on the cusp of beating West Ham to the signature of Nikola Milenkovic

According to The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on the signing of Nikola Milenkovic this summer amidst links to West Ham United.

Milenkovic, who has been touted to a move to West Ham all summer could in fact join London rivals in Spurs as Fabio Paratici looks to complete a move for the Serbian defender. Tottenham are ready to offer £15million for the defender, which would exceed West Ham’s offer of £12.7million for the Serbian, according to Alfredo Pedulla (h/t The Sun).

The 23-year-old made 34 Serie A appearances for Fiorentina last season as he helped the Italian outfit to a 13th place finish. His performances have not gone unnoticed, courtesy of which West Ham have been interested in signing the player.

Spurs, on the other hand, are on the lookout for a centre-back as they have already lost the likes of Juan Foyth and Toby Alderweireld this summer.

Additionally, Davinson Sanchez has been linked with a move away from the club this summer, while Serge Aurier could also depart after he did not make the cut for the club’s squad to face Pacos de Ferreira on Thursday for their UEFA Europa Conference League tie.

Thus, signing Milenkovic would be a smart move, and given his age and talent, Paratici could complete a clever coup by bringing the player to London.

Paratici has already orchestrated moves from Cristian Romero, Bryan Gil, and Pierluigi Gollini this summer, while the club are also interested in signing a central midfielder, according to Fabrizio Romano (h/t The Sun).

However, only time will tell whether Spurs manage to get deals for their summer targets over the line before the end of the transfer window.
