Tottenham Hotspur suffer blow in pursuit of Lautaro Martinez

According to an interview done by the agent of Lautaro Martinez on FCInterNews (h/t Express), the Argentine is set to stay at the club amidst interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

Martinez has been touted for a move to Spurs, with the North London outfit apparently also had a bid of £51million accepted earlier this summer. However, things took a turn when Spurs’ rivals in Chelsea broke their club record to sign Inter Milan’s Romelu Lukaku for £97.5million.

Moreover, the Argentine himself is said to be wanting to stay at the club now, according to an interview done by his agent on FCInterNews (h/t Express).

“Lautaro wants to stay at Inter. He believes in the Nerazzurri project and aims to win another Scudetto. I think we have to adapt to the new situation. A meeting with Inter is scheduled for Wednesday”.

The agent also explained how they will do everything to ‘stay in Milan and how the 23-year-old is ‘very comfortable’ with his teammates and with the new coach.

“He wants to win the Scudetto again with Inter, play a good Champions League with the Nerazzurri, and as I said at the moment, he doesn’t think at all about leaving Italy. He believes – and we believe – that there is still life at Inter.”

Lautaro Martinez won the Copa America with Cristian Romero, who signed for Tottenham Hotspur earlier this summer.

Spurs have been on the lookout for a forward all summer as they could be facing the prospect of losing their star centre-forward in Harry Kane.

However, the club went into the pursuit of Lautaro with the idea that he would partner the Englishman upfront, because, at the end of the day, Kane remains a Tottenham player, something the club made clear after naming him in the squad for their UEFA Europa Conference League game on Thursday.
