Transfer News: Tottenham receive blow in chase for Nikola Milenkovic
According to transfer news from Sky Sports, Tottenham have received a blow in their efforts to sign Nikola Milenkovic. The Serbian defender is now considering the possibility of accepting a new contract from Fiorentina. Spurs, West Ham and Wolves had all been linked with Milenkovic but the huge delay in any sort of move is said to be making the player consider a U-turn.
It would seem that Spurs want to add another defensive player to their ranks even after the signing of Christian Romero. They have kept names such as Takehiro Tomiyasu and Milenkovic on their wishlist but have yet to make any sort of move with a potential bid or offer for the latter.
The fact is Spurs are not the only side after the 23-year-old Serbian defender. Premier League sides, West Ham and Wolves are also said to be after him. However, West Ham and David Moyes have decided not to push ahead their interest in him. On the other hand, Wolves have also ruled out a potential move given the potential cost of the deal. All that has now started to play on the mind of Milenkovic. He is said to be frustrated with these developments over a potential move possibly diminishing. He is now said to be considering accepting the initial contract renewal offer Fiorentina planned. With the new season of Serie A set to start over the weekend, he could take up on the same offer.

It’s puzzling as to why Tottenham are delaying any sort of move for Milenkovic when they clearly have interest in him. With the other two sides also out of the running, it gives Spurs a clear shot at him as well. The Fiorentina defender is a robust operator in defence and could be a very shrewd capture should the club eventually move for him.
